Uncounted
A Chrome extension that keeps your own visits out of Plausible Analytics, from the first pageview on. With developer tools to check a Plausible setup.
- Svelte
- TypeScript
- Chrome Extension
- Playwright
Why
I am a big fan of Plausible. It counts visits without cookies, and schmidbauer.dev runs on a self-hosted instance. Two things lived in the browser console, though.
To keep my own visits out, Plausible documents a console command per site and browser. And to see which events a page sends, I dug through DevTools. I wanted both one click away, in a popup.
What it does
Turn a site on in the popup, and Uncounted sets localStorage.plausible_ignore at document_start, before the Plausible script runs. Even the first pageview is skipped. It works with plausible.io, self-hosted instances and proxied scripts, because it only touches the page's localStorage.

A badge shows per tab whether your visits count. A global mode sets the flag on every site. Removing a site clears the flag it set.
Developer tools
The popup also checks a Plausible installation: which script and variant load, the domain, the endpoint and the version. It warns about multiple scripts, CSP problems and a blocked script. A test mode lifts the flag until you stop it, and an event log shows which events Plausible sends or skips.

Privacy
No telemetry, no analytics, no remote requests. The extension asks for host access only for the sites you enable, at the moment you enable them.
Status
Version 0.1.0, open source under the MIT license. Uncounted is unofficial and not affiliated with Plausible Analytics. It only uses the opt-out flag Plausible documents.
